MLS Give AC Milan A Friday Beckham Deadline

Major League Soccer commissioner Don Garber has set a deadline of Friday for AC Milan to agree a deal to sign David Beckham from LA Galaxy.

"If David believes he wants to continue his career in Milan and Milan want to purchase him, we're interested in accommodating that request," he said.

"It continues to go round in circles and needs to be concluded by Friday."

According to the Independent, Beckham may have to fund part of the financial settlement himself, but would be rewarded with a lucrative 18-month contract.

Milan are even reported to have agreed personal terms, and awarded him image rights.

What Milan need now is for Beckham to persuade Galaxy to bring forward the break clause in his current five-year contract, which activates in October, so he can sign a permanent deal at the San Siro now.

Another stumbling block might be the transfer fee. Galaxy have reportedly demanded £15 million, but Milan are unwilling to pay more than £5m for a 33-year-old who could become a free agent in the autumn anyway.

The saga continues.
