Well, it was back to Serie A at the weekend for the home match against Palermo. It was another great result at the San Siro for the team and our fourth win in a row. Confidence is high at the moment and we’ve hit a great run of form going in to the last few matches of the season.

We know we’re still seven points behind Inter, but if they continue to drop points and we can keep winning, who knows what might happen? We’ve just got to keep concentrating on our own form and see where it takes us. We’ve overtaken Juve in the last few weeks and we going to do our best to finish as high up the table as possible, starting with next Sunday’s match against Catania.

Hi everyone,

Well, as you might already know, I spent Monday in London with Andy Murray and Denise Lewis helping to launch the charity Malaria No More, which I am proud to be part of the Leadership Council for.

We had a really positive day, first at Wembley with Andy and then we met up with Denise and the Prime Minister at Downing Street.

The fight against Malaria is something that I am really passionate about. I saw first-hand last year just how crucial these bed nets are. I went to Sierra Leone with UNICEF and saw families devastated by malaria and other diseases.
There, one in four children die before their fifth birthday.

I visited health clinics and learnt why people die so young. And sadly I saw that it’s mainly from preventable diseases such as malaria. These heartbreaking facts made me back the new charity Malaria No More UK.

The fact is malaria is the biggest killer of children in the world, with a child dying every 30 seconds and there are around 250million cases of malaria worldwide. But what most people don’t realise is that malaria is preventable. These kids can be saved.

Malaria No More UK wants to get bed nets to everyone in Africa who needs one by the end of 2010. It’s an ambitious goal — but it can be achieved if we all get behind it.
I’ll never forget how fragile those children I met in Africa were and to know how fleeting some of their lives could be.

For just £5 you can buy a mosquito net, which will protect a mother and child, or brother and sister, for up to five years. As a dad of three myself I want to do everything possible to help these kids.

Hi everyone,

Well, it was great to return from England duty and head straight into a win with Milan. It’s important, especially at this time of the season, to have consistency as we try to consolidate a Champions League position for next year. Obviously, I didn’t get to play a part in the match as I was on the bench this time, but it’s a team game and we’ve got some big players in the Milan squad, so the manager will change things around from time to time, both tactically and so that everyone gets a chance to have some game time.

Looking ahead, there are only eight games remaining in Serie A for the season, and we still have to play the likes of Juventus, Fiorentina and Roma, so there’s no chance that we’ll be thinking that the job is done, despite being four points ahead of Genoa.

We’ve Chievo Verona next, who are on a decent run of form. We’re also away, so we’ll need to produce a strong performance to win there and keep up momentum.

Finally, I'd like to wish everyone a very Happy Easter.

Hi everyone,

I’m delighted with how things have gone with England this week. We won both games, which was obviously the main thing and we performed well too. Against Slovakia I thought we played really well and with great freedom. It’s always good to see players expressing themselves and I thought the team did that on Saturday and scored four excellent goals. It was also an incredibly proud moment for me to become the most capped outfield player. It’s no secret that I love playing for my country and if the manager thinks I’m good enough then I’ll always answer the call.

We knew it would be harder against the Ukraine and so it proved. We started well and then got the vital goal, but they were hard to break down and when my club mate Andriy Shevchenko scored it looked like it might be one of those nights. Fortunately we go a free-kick and I managed to find Steven Gerrard, who headed a brilliant ball into the path of John Terry and he did the rest. We’re still top of the group with a 100% record that we won’t give up easily. We’ve got some tough games to play before the group is decided, but we’re confident and looking ahead.

I’m off back to Milan now. We’ve a home game against Lecce on Sunday and now international duty is over for the time being I’m fully focused on helping the team win a Champions League place.

David Beckham Blogs About AC Milan & England

Hi everyone,

Well, after two great results in the league we could only manage a draw away to Napoli. To be fair, they played really well and have a great coach in Roberto Donadoni, who was previously the Italian national side’s manager. I had a chance myself at the end of the match with a free-kick, but their ‘keeper made a great save, so a draw was probably a fair result. Unfortunately, that means that we’re now 14 points behind Inter. They’re playing really well at the moment and keep winning matches, which is something we need to do in order to keep up with the likes of them and Juventus. A Champions League place is definitely on the cards provided we’re consistent between now and the end of the season.

Right now though I’m with the England squad. We won our first match against Slovakia. It was only a friendly, but I thought we played really well and that will give us confidence going into Wednesday’s qualifier against the Ukraine. For me personally it was an incredibly proud moment to win 109 caps for my country. To set up a goal for the team made it even more special and it’s a day I won’t forget in a hurry.

Moving forward though, we know Wednesday will be a tough game and we’re under no illusions about what we need to do. The Ukraine have some top players, including my AC Milan team-mate Andriy Shevchenko, so we’ll need to be at our best, but I know the squad are determined to keep our 100% qualifying record and, with the fans behind us at Wembley, there’s no reason why we shouldn’t get the right result.

Hi everyone,

Well, we had a fantastic result against Siena at the weekend and it was an important one too as it was the first of two away matches on the spin, so to win so convincingly gives us great confidence going into the next match against Napoli on Sunday night.

It was also great for me personally as I got an assist from a corner, which Pippo Inzaghi scored. Of course, to win 5-1 away in any match is always good for the team and if we can get another result at the weekend then we’re hitting form just at the right time as we head towards the final part of the season. Inter and Juve are playing well, but if we continue to win games we may still have a chance of catching them or at least get Milan back in the Champions League, which is where they should to be.

David Beckham Blogs About The AC Milan & LA Galaxy Deal

Well, by now you’ll probably know that I’ll be staying with Milan until July, then heading back to play for the Galaxy until the end of the MLS season.

I'm really grateful to the LA Galaxy and AC Milan for making this happen. I want to help Milan to reach the Champions League as a club with its history should be there every season. As for the LA Galaxy, we have to improve on last season and try to make the play-offs then who knows.

One of the reasons for staying at Milan is to give me the chance to play in the 2010 World Cup. I have to do everything I can do to be involved in that. Everyone knows how passionate I am about playing for my country and, if it gives me a better chance, I'll do anything possible to make that happen.

Right now, I’m delighted at how things have turned out and I’ll be giving my all to both Milan and the Galaxy over the coming year.

On the pitch, we secured a good win at the weekend over Atalanta. Inzaghi got a hat-trick and the team performed reasonably well. Obviously, we’re still a way behind Juve and Inter, but if we can turn in results like that every week, we’ve still a chance. Unfortunately, I picked up an ankle injury in training on Tuesday, it's responding well to treatment though and I'm hopeful I can play a part on Sunday.

Hello everybody,

Well, it was good to get back to winning ways against Cagliari after the disappointment of losing the Milan derby.

Unfortunately, we're out of the UEFA Cup though. We didn't lose either game against Werder Bremen, but they're through on the away goals rule. It's another disappointment, but good to them.

On Tuesday I appeared at an adidas store in Milan to reveal the new Predator boot. It was a fantastic afternoon, made all the better by the amount of people that came along. Many thanks to those who turned up. I hope you had a good time.

We were away to Sampdoria on Sunday and didn't get the result we wanted. It's all about consistency at the moment, but things aren't quite going our way. We're back at home this weekend though, so we know what we need to do to get things going again.

Hi everyone,

Well, the Milan derby was a great match to be involved in. The atmosphere in the stadium was incredible, one of the best I’ve experienced, but unfortunately the result didn’t go our way. We started quite well, but then found ourselves 2-0 down and although we did get back into the game again in the second-half, we couldn’t turn the match in our favour.

I was really disappointed to come off. I’d had a kick in the calf in the previous match against Reggina and then got another kick on the same calf, which was giving me trouble, so I had to stop playing. These things happen though, and despite the result it was amazing to be involved in my first Milan derby.

We travel to Germany next to play Werder Bremen in the UEFA Cup. I hope to play some part in the game if my injury clears up as it’ll be my first match in Europe for Milan. I’ll let you know how it goes.

David Beckham Blogs, But Doesn't Mention His Desire To Stay In Milan

Hi everybody,


Well, we had another important result against Lazio on Sunday. It’s always tough to play away matches, so to win the match 3-0 is great for our confidence and it was also good for me personally to get a couple of assists. Of course, with Juve losing and Inter drawing their matches we’re up to second now, so we’ve got to keep it going starting with our next match against Reggina on Sunday.

I’ve just returned from Scotland, where Milan played Rangers in a friendly. It was a really good game and I think 2-2 was a fair result in the end. It was amazing to see 45,000 people turned up on such a cold night for the match, so I hope they were entertained. I played the first half and most of the squad got a chance to get involved in the game at some, so it proved to be a good workout for all of us.

Well, it’s been another good week at Milan. Obviously, to score a goal in only my third Serie A match was great and I’m definitely going to keep my shirt to mark the occasion, but I’m also pleased with the way we played, especially away from home and to come back from a goal down to win 4-1 shows the character and quality of the team.
We’re all working hard for each other and the results are showing. We’re still six points behind Inter, but our form is good, so we just want to keep going and see what happens.

We’re at home to Genoa tonight, who’re four points behind us, so the match is great opportunity to really push on, away from the chasing teams and try to catch the two teams above us. We’re confident and really looking forward to the game.

Hi everybody,

Well, it was great to play my first match at the San Siro for Milan and start my second game in a row for the club.

Playing at the San Siro is always a special experience, so to make my home debut was a great feeling. To be honest I’ve had better games and as a team we didn’t play at our best, but we got the win, which was important as it kept us in touch with Juve and Inter, especially as results didn’t go their way. Of course, it would have been nice to get on the scoresheet, but their keeper made a good save. I’m just delighted to be playing and for the team to win, so I’ll keep working hard and hopefully play a part over the coming weeks.

We’ve two games in four days coming up, with Bologna on Sunday and then Genoa at home the following Wednesday, which should be a tough game as they’re only two points behind us in the league, so we’ll be looking for maximum points to put a bit of daylight between us.

Obviously there’s been plenty of talk about Kaka over the past week, but I’d just like to say I’m genuinely happy that he’s staying with Milan and I hope he will be here for a long time.

David Beckham Blogs From Milan

Hi everybody,

Well, it’s been a very good week for me personally. After training with the Milan players and then playing my first game in Dubai, which was a great experience, we all returned to Italy to prepare for the match against Roma. I’ve worked hard over the past week or so to get my fitness to a good level, but I was still surprised when I found out during the team meeting before the match that I was going to start. Of course, I was really happy to be making my first appearance in Serie A and I was also pleased to play for most of the game, as it is important for me to get match fitness. I didn’t think I’d last as long as I did, but I still felt strong at half-time, which the manager must have seen and kept me on. Obviously, I’m pleased with how things have gone so far, but I’ll take things one step at a time.

We’ve got Fiorentina at the San Siro in our next match and I hope to play some part as it’ll be my first home match for the club. They are only two points behind us in the table, so we’ll definitely be looking to put some daylight between us and the clubs below. In the meantime I’ll work hard in training, as I always do, and we’ll take things from there.

David Beckham Blogs As He Arrives In Rome

Hi everyone,

A very Happy New Year to you all.

Well, after enjoying Christmas with my family I travelled with them to Dubai to meet up with my new AC Milan team-mates at their training camp. It was great to finally work again as I’ve not trained since early December with the Galaxy and, as I’ve said before, my body is used to keeping fit throughout the winter.

It was a tough week of training, but I feel I’m improving my fitness everyday and although I knew some of the players already it gave me the opportunity to get to know the team better.

It was great to start against Hamburg and although it was only a friendly it felt brilliant to be back on the pitch. Obviously, I was a bit rusty after not playing for a while, but it was a good workout and I thought I did ok.

I’m now back in Italy with the team, training for our next Serie A match away to Roma on Sunday, which I’m really looking forward to. It's a big game to start off with.

I’ll let you know how things go over the coming weeks.

Hi Everyone,

Merry Christmas!

Well, it’s been another amazing year.

I began 2008 by training with Arsenal to keep my fitness levels high and while I was back in England I was honoured to receive the Football Writers Tribute Award.

I also met the Prime Minister Gordon Brown and showed him around my Academy, which was a very proud moment for me and the coaching staff.

Next, as part of my UNICEF work, I visited Sierra Leone to try and highlight child mortality rates in the developing world. It was a very humbling experience, but an inspiring one.

Before the end of January I travelled to Brazil to announce The David Beckham World of Sport, which I hope will give Brazilian children the same access to top-class facilities and coaching as they get at my London and LA Academies.

After playing our pre-season friendlies in Hawaii and the Far East the MLS season got underway in March, but not before I was called up to the England squad for the first time under Fabio Capello. I still find it hard to believe that I won my 100th cap with England. It’s such an amazing honour that I am incredibly proud of and despite losing to France I will always remember the match in a positive light.

Unfortunately, we didn’t get a win in our first MLS match of the season either, but in our following game against San Jose Earthquakes I scored my first MLS goal, which was fantastic! Despite the win we just couldn’t get on a run of good results, even though we did top the Western Conference for a while, and our form suffered, so in the end we didn’t make the playoffs, which was disappointing.

As the year went on I continued to be called up to the England squads and although I didn’t start in all the games, I did get to captain the team again in the friendly against Trinidad & Tobago, which was a great honour. I’ve said before I’d never turn my back on England and as long as the manager wants me and feels I can do a job then I’m happy to be part of things and pass on my experience where needed.

Away from football, I was delighted to part of the Olympics handover ceremony in Beijing in August. I’m a keen supporter of the Olympics coming to London in 2012. It will have an incredible impact on the East of London and the country, it is definitely time we had the chance to host a global event again.

Now Christmas has arrived again and I’m really looking forward to spending time with my family and enjoying the holiday before I experience some time in Italy with AC Milan early next year and keep my fitness levels up before heading back to the Galaxy in time for the start of the 2009 MLS season in the spring.

So, I’d like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

David Beckham Blogs Before His Move To Milan

Hi everyone,

Well, the Galaxy have played their last match this year and now all the players head off on their winter breaks. We had a great trip to New Zealand and capped it all off with a strong performance against the Oceania All Stars. There are some very good players, who come from the Islands, so hopefully the match helped to raise the profile of some of these players and soccer in general over there.

As for the Galaxy, the result and clean sheet sends everyone off on a high and we’ll definitely look to build on the confidence gained from this next year.

Obviously, while the rest of the squad take a well-earned rest I’ll be heading off to Italy to join up with AC Milan in the New Year, which I’m really looking forward to. It’s an exciting prospect and if it means that I’m at full fitness when the Galaxy get back together then I’ll be happy.

Hi everyone,

Well, the Galaxy are in New Zealand again. I can’t believe it’s been a year since I was last here already! The people are so friendly and welcoming that it makes everyone feel at home and adds to the enjoyment of being here.

Of course, we’re all really looking forward to the match. It’s brilliant that players such as Christian Karembeu and Edgar Davids could be playing as they’ve done it all and I know the guys in the team can’t wait to get on the pitch to face them. The Oceania team is also mixed with people from the Islands like Papua New Guinea, Tahiti and the Soloman Islands, so the match is definitely important in raising the game of soccer in this part of the world.

Even though it’s only a friendly it’s also our last match of the year and we’re aiming to finish on a high give the fans an entertaining match on Saturday. I’ll let you know how it goes.

Hi everybody,

Well, it was brilliant to see England win in Berlin last week. Obviously, it was only a friendly but to win any game, especially against a team like Germany is always an incredible feeling. Well done to them.

On Saturday night I travelled to Las Vegas to see my friend Ricky Hatton win his boxing match against Paulie Malignaggi. It was a great spectacle and Ricky looked to be back in top form, winning in the 11th round. To be honest, he looked in control for most of the fight and it was great to see all his hard work and training pay off.

Speaking of training, the Galaxy are still training for the match in New Zealand next week. We’re all excited about going back there again and really want to finish the year with a bang.

Hi everyone,

Well, as I’m sure you know by now, the England squad has been picked for the friendly against Germany and this time I’ve not made it. I’ve not played competitively for a few weeks and the manager wants players that are match fit in his squad. Although I’m still training with the Galaxy there’s nothing like playing matches and it’s really easy to lose that sharpness that you get with playing week in, week out.

Good luck to the squad though. I know it’s only a friendly, but it’s an away match and as everyone knows when it comes to England there are no friendlies against Germany!

The Galaxy squad and myself are now looking forward to travelling to New Zealand for the game next month. It’s our last match of the year so we’ll definitely want a good performance before the players go on their winter breaks.
