David Beckham scored his first goal in a Major League Soccer game, and gave an assist to Landon Donovan gift LA Galaxy their first win against San Jose Earthquakes with a 2-0 score for their home opener on Thursday night.
Beckham, who scored his season's first goal, took a perfect pass from Donovan, the team's biggest star before Beckham arrived, at the top of the box on his left in the ninth minute, then unleashed the ball from 18 yards on the right side and through the back of the net with 8:16 in the game.
Beckham then fed Donovan at the same spot where he made the goal late in the first hand, with Donovan successfully connecting into an empty net after goalkeeper Joe Cannon charged forward. The Galaxy's second goal came in the 37th minute.
San Jose tried to get back in the game in the third minute with a goal but it was called for offsides.
Victoria and the kids were there, as was basketball player Kobe Bryant with his kids.
