Victoria Beckham and Cheryl Cole Are No Longer Friends

Victoria Beckham and Cheryl Cole were the best of friends during the 2006 World Cup, but Cheryl now says that this is no longer the case.

In her recent Vogue interview, the Girls Aloud singer criticised her old friend for lack of support when the allegations of her husband Ashley Cole's infidelity first became public.

She revealed she was disappointed not to hear from Victoria. "Victoria was in my hotel room during the World Cup - we've had barbecues together - so I was quite shocked by that. I mean, David's mum is friends with Ashley's mum."

I must say I am disappointed to hear this.

me too, and victoria should be particularly sympathetic to this kind of experience.

plus i love cheryl.

doesnt seem like victoria holds down friends too long. she recently mentioned somewhere how she has david as a best friend and that's it.

DVB said...

EXACTLY, she should have been the first to call, as like you said she had the same experience.

I also love Cheryl.

I think Victoria finds it very hard to trust people.

I like Cheryl too, but why air this dirty laundry in public? If she's disappointed in Victoria, then she should tell Victoria. It really puts me off when celebs badmouth each other in interviews. Not classy.

Even though she finds it hard to trust people, this is very very dissapointing.
I never thaught V. wouldn't support any of her friends in that situation which SHE herself has passed by...
Truly dissapointing.
Thanks DVB for all the updates, I will never get tired to thank you :D

You are always welcome and it is always my pleasure ;)

I think this shows exactly why she's not friends with Cheryl. What kind of friend critizes you in the media? Just because they seem to have things in common doesn't mean that they actually do. Sure, they both WAGs and they've both been in girl bands and like to shop. But Victoria's older, she has three children and a completely different lifestyle in LA.
I don't really see what the problem is.

DVB said...

I am quite stunned by your response.

Yes they have different lifestyles, but it shows a huge lack of compassion from Victoria not to have picked up the phone to comfort Cheryl because they were friends.

Granted 2 years had passed since the World Cup, but they did not have a falling out, so it would have been nice to hear from a friend, no matter how distance they had become.

I don't mean to bash Victoria, but I am still disappointed in her.

This makes me laugh. Just because they spent time together during the World Cup doesn't mean they were close friends who share details about their personal lives. I completely agree with Vicky, the fact that Cheryl would publicly say this show's exactly why they aren't close friends. Victoria has said her self she has many acquaintances and few close friends, smart woman that Vic.

Good on Vic, who knows what else would end up in the media through Cheryl. Oh poor Cheryl, I know when I spend a couple of months with a new friend I expect calls from them when my marriage is troubled. Barbecues and family friends does not an intimate friend make.

Anonymous said...

I can see the headline, "Nosy Posh desperate to share cheating hubbies grief". I would never personally insinuate myself in someone's marriage problems if we're not extremely close.

Even from Cheryl's comments, I don't get the impression they were close on that level. Vic would be making 10 calls a week if she followed that m.o. lol

Since Cheryl mentioned this in an interview, it makes me feel she's an attention-whore. What's the point of mentioning something like that in an interview??? True friends would not make use of such an opportunity to put their point across. As such, I think VB is better off w/o her!!

Ha...I guess it is just me and Cleopatra.

You might be in the minority here dvb I also feel that a) Victoria and Cheryl just hung out and that Victoria was never that close a mate with Cheryl. b) that Cheryl is an attention Whore and a bit of a trouble maker as well. C) Why would Victoria lend Cheryl much sympathy when It was obvious Ashley IS a slapper loving cheat and David a much maligned faithful husband? (Even if thats only V's belief.)
You wouldn't want to associate yourself with bad publicity and re-open the nasty past, would you?
I make her right . I would run a mile from the whole ridiculous Cheryl/ Ashley non sense. Personnaly I hate it when these two couples are compaired. Victoria and David have more class in their little fingers than Cheryl and Ashley will ever have in their whole lives.

i do sypthaise with cheryl in the fact that she was going through alot and it must be hard.but you don't go and tell the whole world like that.anyway she says that they had barebecues together and shared hotel rooms but that was at the time of the world cup and she doesn't mention if they kept in touch after that say on the phone so it would be a bit weird for you to expect a call from someone who you haven't talked to for so long and only spent a month or two together and that was with other wags there aswell.also victoria probably didn't feel that close too cheryl and i think it shows how much of a friend cheryl is to have said that in a magazine about victoria.its not the first time she has said something bad about victoria either last year when she and girls aloud did attitude she said this about the spice girls We recognise what the Spice Girls did, but it really annoys me when you meet girls who go, ‘We wannabe the next Spice Girls."

"Yes, they had worldwide domination, but they fell out, b****ed about each other and went their separate ways. We’ve been around for all this time, fighting to climb each step of the ladder, putting our hearts into everything."also victoria does lend support to her friends like recentely she helped tania ramsay get through rough times after hearing about gordon ramsay's affairs.so i think that she just didn't feel very close to cheryl and it would be very akward to phone someone after 2 years like that so what cheryl was not right to really expect that and the way she has told the magazine about it just shows why victoria didn't feel to be close with cheryl as she did not fully trust her and cheryl just gave proof to the matter.victoria meets so many people in her life she isn't going to be friends with all of them.yeah you are going to be nice and talk while you are together doing something but then if you don't stay in touch the friendship doesn't remain and if they were really close they would have stayed in touch.i am definately with victoria on this one.thanks for posting

I have to admit you bring up many valid points especially as like you said it would have only opened up a painful past. But if were me, I would have called. But that is why Victoria is a shrewd sucessful business woman and I am not :) ha

Anonymous said...

DVB I think the issue is that it had to do with marriage trouble. If per say Cheryl was hurt or had some sort of other personal tragedy/problem, Vic probably would have called. Other people's marriage is very tricky and Vic rightly did not put herself anywhere near the circus.

Anonymous said...

I agree with the majority, having barbecues together in 2006 don't make them close friends. Neither the fact that David and Ashley's mom know each other. Cheryl has a reputation of slagging off other celebs in public, I'm glad Victoria never shared anything with her.

A more important issue, though: Victoria NEVER acknowleged directly the whole marriage crisis stories like Cheryl. It's all, still, under a cloud of smoke. Why would she reach out to Cheryl in a subject that Victoria is probably, still, not confortable about? Come on.

Anonymous said...

I think Victoria should have called Cheryl...even if this could have open a painful past! If they have shared something together it would have been just normal that victoria support her!

I love Victoria but I am a bit disappointed too.

Anonymous said...

They socialised for 2 weeks in 2006, they never spoke again after that, why would Victoria suddenly spill her heart to her? They were never close friends, this Cheryl girl would probably share Victoria's thoughts with the press knowing her. I think it shows she is nothing more than a common 'lass' who got lucky when she criticizes celebrities in public, is it a shock she bad-mouthed the Spice Girls in Attitude magazine last year? She has an axe to grind, when she should learn to shut up, she's hardly a woman people can look up to with as dignified, she's nothing more than a 'media darling'. You can't take the council estate out of the girl!

Anonymous said...

I think we mustn't believe all that is reported in the media, we never know whether it is the truth or just pure lies to get their magazines sold...

brit said...

yes me too, what a shame, espesh when victoria said that geri never got in touch with her about the allegations against david, and she said she was hurt about that. maybe victoria and cheryle havnt spoken for a long time and she didn't think that she should stick her owe in....who knows.

Anonymous said...

Well, Geri and Victoria were part of the same group for almost a decade, it's VERY different from having barbecues once almost 2 years before. Where were the Girls Aloud to comfort her anyway?

Anonymous said...

Looks like it's already begun. I'm seeing the UK press has picked it up and turning into a feud or whatever. I'm gonna bet Loos will be making a comment soon.

Anonymous said...

Have any of you ever been cheated on , well I have and I dont know why Cheryl was more worried about Victoria calling than her husband behaving! why did she want the pity party? Who was there for Victoria when her 'jazz' happened.

These young girls need to grow up and get a backbone, all the bad things that were said about Victoria during that terrible time, Cheryl doesn't have a clue!

Everybody has SOMETHING to say about Victoria (even what's her-name from 'Am a celebrity..get me outta here'!)
They need to live V alone, let the woman live her life! Lawd.

PS: I thought Cheryl said she was going to be a more private person and she should have known better than to talk like this, she knows it's fodder to the press.

Anonymous said...

no i totally agree with dvb!!!

When david cheated on victoria, i remember victoria saying she was disappointed that Geri Halliwell (ginger spice)did not call after hearing about it. So Cheryl Cole is justified in feeling the same way about victoria. I am sure they were more than acquaintances, but victoria seems to trade her friends as fast as last seasons shoes.

not to critise too much but It's sad really on victoria part.

Anonymous said...

How very Daily Mail-esque to say that VB 'trade her friends as fast as last season's shoes'. Very unfair. And again, Geri and Victoria had/have a much stronger bond that VB/Cheryl ever had. I fail to see the basis of comparison here, I really do. Surely Cheryl had many other close friends to rely on?

Imagine for a moment if VB actually called her --> Instead of complaining, you bet Cheryl would have thanked her on Vogue --> C. says VB knows more than anyone about this allegations, she was so helpful --> Press brings back painful memories of those days --> Loos chimes in on a topless cover at the Daily Star. It's not what VB wants, is it?

Victoria and Cheryl are not close friend.Yes,they spend time together during the World Cup and socialised periodly but that's not more than that.

Victoria will not want to have any friend relationship with someone she not really know. Why should her?.This is the last thing we know-Cheryl criticised her in media.

I know what type of person Victoria is..i confessed it's hard to her to trust people. She will not talking rubbish things about her close friends-Katie,Tom is a perfect enough example..

They do their thing, she do her thing.Everybody are in different.

No hurt feelings and criticising. She supports her friends.Im on Victoria side.

DVB said...

I respect everyone's opinion, but for me it is not about taking sides.

Anonymous said...

DVB, nobody is taking sides. Its just so childish of her to expect Victoria to call her , I mean what did she want her to say?
I don't get it. I know Cheryl has alot of growing up to do.
Like pp said, Geri and V had been much closer than Cheryl and V.

All in all, I dont know what V was going through in her life to be disappointed with her for frogetting to call and console Cheryl, but thats life, you have got to suffer and smile!

khyrull said...

I think that there are no propriate time for Victoria to sit and talk with Cheryl about that coz she was so busy.

It doesn't mean she don't care about Cheryl. It's not nice to blame Victoria randomly..

Anonymous said...

That's my opinion too.
It's not about taking sides. It's about being a supportive friend.
Also if she just socialised for two weeks, she could had just made a call to make Cheryl know she was there for any situation Cheryl might have gone through. It's just that.
Geri and Vic were closer friends, I agree to that. But even if Cheryl didn't have that strong bond, it's for courtesy, to help someone.
But if she didn't call to open back past memories (painful ones) that isn't fair from her side either. If that is the case (which we won't know unless Vic speaks to media, which I REALLY doubt) it's very unfair and selfish from her part, don't you think so?

DVB said...

Courtesy...that's the word I was looking for.

It just would have been courteous for her to have called, or to have even sent a small note.

khyrull said...

it is very unfair and selfish to gave an interview about someone who is your friend and just because Victoria rarely meet her and was really busy, the friendship shouldn't suppose be to ruin.

especially point to SOMEONE REALLY FAMOUS and Cheryl said they were friends and said Victoria not being there when she got trouble on the allegations publicly in magazine interview..

that's really uncool for me.

Anonymous said...

I must say i'm also disappointed. Victoria has been in the same situation, so i would expect a call from her. I really thought she was there for her, but apparently not.

I'm also sad because everyone is arguing here is Cheryl right or that Victoria didn't need to be there for her. Everyone has an opinion, but I think Victoria should have been supportive.

I personally love Cheryl, I think she always looks beautiful.

Anonymous said...

Oh, no one is taking sides and I agree that a courtesy call would have been lovely.

However, this is not the point. Cheryl decided to share this particular incident with the whole world, which loves to blame Victoria for everything. I'm just pissed she decided to do such a thing...

Anonymous said...

Ernie, you are on to something! Why was there a need for her to share this infor with the press?
Anyhow If she felt so beat up about it, she should have said all this to Victoria. Maybe David and Ashley's mums should have been the ones consoling her.

Anonymous said...

I think that is so lame of Cheryl to put that out there like that.

She is obvioulsy bitter, jealous, and in diehard need of attention. Why wait all this time to say something, and nationally at that?

Get over yourself Cheryl!

Krishna I really dislike the fact that you accept so readily the unproven "fact" that David had an affair or affairs. I don't believe he would and all these stupid tarts are just trying to make money out of their miserable lives and ahve used David and Victoria. Loos wasn't the first bitch to try and split them up an unfortunately won't be the last. As V would say "everyone has a price" Who would believe David would have anything to do with a woman who wanks off a pig on T.V. !!!
