'Sport' World Exclusive Interview With David Beckham

Now the dust has settled on your transfer to Los Angeles Galaxy, how are you feeling about the move - nervous?
"Not nervous, no. I'm excited more than anything. It was a bit nerve-wracking at first, the thought of moving to a different club and a different country, with a different type of culture - just as it was when I left Manchester United - but I'm looking forward to the challenge."

What about about the standard of football over there - does that concern you?
"People are saying that the standard's really low in Major League Soccer, but it's not. I've played against LA Galaxy for Real Madrid - and against other American teams - in pre-season. I'm not saying the football is at the same level as it is in La Liga or in the Premiership, but it's still very competitive. The football is only a small part of what I'm looking to achieve in the US, though. The challenge isn't to go over there and prove that I'm a great footballer - it's to go over there and prove to people what a great game football is, and how bit is can be in America. I'm not stupid - I know it's never going to be as big as American football, basketball or baseball, but I believe I can help take it to a higher level. I'm looking forward to the challenge.

You've said several times that you'll never close the door on playing for England again. Do you feat that being out of sight in the MLS will mean being out of Steve McClaren's mind?
"No. I'm sure that if I'm doing well then it won't go unnoticed, and I will always be available to play for my country if I'm a fit person and a fit player. I always have been, even now that people are saying I'm older and slower - but I've never been a quick player anyway. But getting a recall, well, that's not my decision is it? If it does happen, then amazing. But, if it doesn't, then honoured to have played the games I've played, and to have captained my country so many times".

The door's never shut then, but won't the logistics of playing in the US make it tricky for you to ever play again for England - would you really be prepared to fly 12 hours back and forth every time you were called up?
"Without doubt. I'd walk back from the States to play for England again".

Have you watched any of the England games since being omitted from the squad?
"Every game. I've watched them all here at home, and it was very weird - particularly the first couple of games, against Greece and Andorra. The first game was tough, very tough, but at the end of the day I'm an England fan and I still want them to do well. It's not as if I'm not playing so I want them to lose (laughs). I've still got a lot of friends in the team and on the coaching staff, and I'll always want them to do well. (Smiles) It's just say that it's getting a little easier to watch".

How close were you to joining a Premiership team?
"I spoke to many, although I am not saying who. Man Utd is my team and I don't think I could have brought myself to play against them for anyone".

How big a regret would it be to leave Spanish football without having won a trophy with Madrid?
"It would be very disappointing, of course, but we might still win something this season, and it would be amazing to go out on a high. If that's not the case, well, I won't look back and see my time here as being anything other other than successful. I've spent four years at one of the biggest clubs in the world, and I've been able to play with so many great players. I've played with, well, Zidane just to name one - just being on the same pitch as Zidane was an absolute honour for me. So yeah, it's been a success and I've had an incredible time. I'll have not regrets".

With LA round the corner, how are you able to train and play with the same intensity as you did before? Surely it's in the back of you mind that one rash challenge could have very serious consequences for your future?
"You can't allow yourself to think like that. I remember being at Man Utd in the build-up to cup finals and the Champions League final, when people are saying exactly the same thing - 'aren't you worried about getting injured?' and stuff like that. But, if you think about what might happen, you take your mind off the game, and that's one thing that I've never done. I still fly into tackles, hence the red card against Betis the other day (smiles), and that's how I'll always be. As long as I'm a Real Madrid player, I will remain 110 per cent focused on winning something with a for Real Madrid. That's the most important thing at this moment in time. Once I finish, on June 17, then it's a different ball game.

Beckham's Old Trafford Anniversary

David Beckham was emotional for more than one reason on Tuesday night. The second reason is because on Tuesday it was exactly 10 years since the couple met in the player's lounge at Old Trafford in Manchester.

David took the lucky Victoria to their suite of the Lowrey Hotel after the showcase game.

They had a lavish champagne dinner and David had asked the staff to fill the suite with white flowers - Victoria's favourite - and candles to make the atmosphere as romantic as possible.

David's gift for Victoria was apparently jewellery worth thousands of pounds.

Lucky girl.

Beckham's Finally Decide Buy Meg Ryan's Home In Bel Air

The Beckham's have finally found a home in LA, according to many sources.

It has been reported they made an offer of Meg Ryan's former seven-bedroom, six-bathroom house in the exclusive district of Bel Air district.

The mansion, which boasts of multiple living quarters, ocean views from the bedrooms, a games room, private gym and sauna, swimming pool and massive back garden also takes care of the security issue. The extensive security system safeguarding the house includes an 8ft high security fence surrounding the property and a front wall and gates that stand 11ft tall.

Bel Air estate agent Joel Cunningham, who introduced the property to the Beckham s said that Victoria was mighty impressed by the ocean views which can be enjoyed from the bedroom and close proximity to local amenities and schools. Cunningham was quoted saying: "She was absolutely smitten with the architecture and garden, which is nearly 100 years old and has flowing vines and willow trees. She loved the deck area in the garden too, as it offers a great space for a family to gather and eat breakfast or lunch during the warmer months of the year. And the garden has lots of space for the children to run around in."

Sounds perfect. The reported asking price was $20m and the Beckham's have apparently offered a little more than that to secure the property.

David Beckham Says Goodbye To Manchester United Fans

“The time I spent at this club was the best time in my whole football career,” Beckham told the 74,000-sellout crowd.

“I’ve waited four years to actually come back and to actually say thank you to the fans and the people of the club,” he said. “I think I wouldn’t have got through many things without the people in this stadium,”.

On the field, he publicly supported United manager Alex Ferguson. “Everybody knows here that you’ve got the best manager in the world at this club,” he told the crowd to loud applause.

“I think this team is going to be incredible, and I think they’re going to go on and win many things, not just this year but throughout many years to come,” he said. “So good luck and thank you.”

And here is the video.

David and Victoria Attend UNICEF Charity Match

David Beckham and Victoria tonight attended the Manchester Utd vs. Europe XI charity match to raise money for UNICEF.

Unfortunately David could not play due to injury, but he received a rapturous welcome from the Old Trafford crowd.

I bet he was itching to play when he stepped on the turf and was introduced to the crowd at half time. This might have been the last time a UK crowd would have got to see him play before he leaves for LA :(

Beckham's To Adopt???

Victoria Beckham, who already has three sons, is desperate for a daughter and believes adopting a disadvantaged child would be the ideal solution it has been reported.

A source told Britain's Daily Star newspaper: "Victoria is desperate to have a daughter to be girlie with. She loves the idea of having a girl to dress up, play with and make the family less male-oriented.

"She's been spending time with Katie Holmes and seeing her little girl has made Victoria really broody."

Victoria's friend Jennifer Lopez has reportedly told Victoria about a Mexican organization which helps find homes for South American orphans.

If Victoria and her husband David do adopt they will be the latest celebrities to open up their home to a disadvantaged child.

Madonna has temporary custody of a Malawi baby boy, while Angelina Jolie is planning to adopt for a third time.

Victoria's spokesperson refused to confirm the reports.

She said: "Victoria and David respect people who do adopt but they're happy with their family at the moment."
Personally I am not sure about this report. The Beckham's have enough on their plate with the move to LA, but I will keep you posted if this develops.

Wannabee Beckham's

No this is not the real Beckhams but 2 impersonators, who I must say very much look like the couple....from afar.

They must have a tough time keeping up with the Beckhams as the are contantly changing their image. They would have to keep up with hairdo changes, wear the same clothes the real couple wear AND deal with Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz stand-ins.

But then this photo-call was in LA so it can not be all bad.

How Victoria Beckham Will Conquered America

Here is Victoria’s Beckham’s well orchestrated plan to win over the American public in 10 easy steps…

1) Make A-List friends

Victoria and David have become close to Hollywood power couples Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise, and Jennifer Lopez and Marc Antony. Posh and Becks were among the first people to see Tom and Katie's baby after her birth, Posh attended their wedding in Rome, and David even credits Tom for helping him make the decision to move to the LA Galaxy: “I was on the phone to him for about an hour last night and then an hour the night before," David said when he announced the move. "I asked him for his advice… because he's a very wise man.”

But it doesn't stop there - Brad Pitt has apparently asked David to personally teach young son Maddox some football skills!

2) Declare love for your new home on your blog

“This is a really exciting move for us and the children, and one which we have thought about carefully,” Victoria gushed on her official website when news of David's move to LA Galaxy was announced. “I'm really looking forward to making new friends and enjoying the sunshine in California.”

3) Turn up at VIP events & promptly steal the show

Victoria wowed paparazzi and gossip columnists alike with her frock choices at the Grammies and Oscars parties - she even made some of the best dressed lists the morning after.

4) Resist the lure of Scientology (for now)…

Despite their close friendship with King of Scientology Tom Cruise, Posh and Becks haven't shown an interest in the controversial religion, avoiding the risk of being dismissed as celebrity loonies by the majority of the American public. But for how long can they resist Tom’s Scientology-laced charms?

5) Be fabulous yet aloof at all times

Who else on earth wears an outfit like this, to go house-hunting?! The answer: nobody.

6) Get into the nation’s lounge rooms
If there are still some people in a remote corner of the mid-west who don’t know Victoria’s coming, they soon will – she’s just signed a £10 million deal with NBC for a fly-on-the-wall reality series about her move to the States. This is pure prime-time Posh – David will appear in the series but only very briefly.

Vic is also rumoured to be in the running to host a show where she doles out fashion advice to 'ordinary Americans'.

7) Respect the paparazzi

Victoria rarely loses her temper with over-zealous photographers, even when she get mobbed like in this picture, right, taken outside the Ivy restaurant in LA. Posh understands that without them, she doesn't stand a chance of getting her image splashed across the covers of high-circulation celebrity magazines like People and US Weekly.

8) Suck up to the locals
“People in the street have been calling out things like ‘Welcome home, we're so excited you're here.’” Victoria wrote on her blog. “That has been fantastic, and one of the best things about this trip.”

9) Act like an ordinary mum

Locals were impressed when Victoria acted like a regular British tourist and took her sons to Disneyland. And each time she's photographed out shopping for clothes, Posh makes sure she pops into an LA chain store, not just her favourite designer boutiques.

10) Be immortalised in wax

Madame Tussauds in New York has introduced a Welcome To America exhibit featuring George W Bush greeting David and Victoria to the States. What do you know – she's even found a canny way to get the Republicans on side!

David Beckham Watches Chelsea vs. Tottenham in FA Cup Cup Quarter-Final

David Beckham was sitting in the stand for today's Chelsea vs. Tottenham's FA Cup Quarter Final game. The injured Chelsea skipper John Terry was there also.

David was obviously cheering for Tottenham as he supported them growing up.

It is good to see David back in London...if only he played for a London side, I would be so happy.

This game was a 12.45 kick off. David would have had plenty of time to return to Spain to watch Real Madrid play Gimnastic at the Bernabéu.

Beckham To Face Chelsea In His First Game For LA Galaxy

Chelsea Football Club will be visiting California for a series of exhibition/pre-season friendly games this summer.

One game of those games will be on the July 21 against Los Angeles Galaxy.

Should David be fully fit this could be Beckham's first game with his new team.

It is worth booking a ticket to LA for.

Beckham's Injury Doesn't Stop Him From Shopping

Hooray just when I was worried about the lack of time David and Victoria Beckham have been spending together were they are being photographed doing what they do best shopping Madrid. I wish I could spend it like the Beckhams

Even with his crutches Becks is still a man...leading his woman out of Yves Saint Laurent...or was that just to stop her spending?

David is already in an LA state of mind with his LA cap. I guess he is excited about his move.

Aren't they beautiful together....??? swoon.

Victoria Beckham's Lonely Tears

What do you think Victoria Beckham does when she is apart from David?

Dinner with Katie Holmes? Fashion chats with J.Lo?

Wrong and wrong again.

It turns out, Vic spends her time crying.

Victoria explained to The Sun "I can cope with everything else, but being away from David so much makes me break down.
"I sit and cry and cry. I can't wait to wake up with him. I miss him so much."

And Victoria must be shedding a lot of tears at the moment, what with David finishing up his commitments with Real Madrid in Spain and her house-hunting and sorting their future life out in LA. She should hear my pleas and make a decision on a house etc etc soon. It can not be that hard...surely?

Victoria's Hair Stylist Is To Move to LA With The Beckhams

Apparently there are no hairstylist good enough for Mrs. Beckham in because her stylist Ben Cooke, who styled British celebrity couple David and Victoria Beckham's hair for seven years, is following the couple to Los Angeles.

Cooke has decided to expand his salon business to LA. The celebrity couple are moving there later this year after soccer ace David completes his transfer from Spanish club Real Madrid to LA Galaxy.

Jonathan Long, Cooke's business partner, said: 'We had a meeting in LA when Victoria was there for the Oscars about expanding our brand over there.

'Ben flies anywhere in the world to be with the Beckhams if he can. It would be easier if we had our own salon there. Friends say Victoria can't live without us, which is lovely. We don't want to rely on 'brand Beckham', although Victoria's name on our books means a lot. Victoria is really excited about us setting up in the US.'

The Beckham's are obviously big tippers or the Beckham's are Ben's only clients. It is a big risk and I hope it pays off for him.

Victoria Beckham's New Look. Is a Nose Job Next?

That is what this weeks Grazia magazine is asking.

After Victoria's new blonde crop which has been called The Pop (Posh Crop) and The Lap (LA Posh) people are now wondering if Victoria's nose is next for a change.

Apparently friends says that Victoria might slightly alter the shape of her nose as she has always hated it. She thinks her nose turns up too much at the tip, and has been very impressed with the recent subtle nose jobs by Jennifer Aniston and Cameron Diaz. This change is speculated to take place before her 6-part reality TV series.

LA fashion insiders predict Victoria will change her wardrobe, ditching her high fashion outfits and adopt a more LA stars wardrobe i.e. Jeans and T-Shirts. This is has already started to take place while she has been out and about in LA.

Victoria Beckham's Oscar Dress Was Ruined While Lost in Transit

Victoria Beckham is reportedly very upset after her luggage went missing on its way from Los Angeles to Madrid last week - and when the bags finally turned up, the contents were ruined after being left in the rain.

The luggage included a custom-made pair of Jimmy Choo shoes and the white Azzedine Alaia dress she wore for Elton John’s Oscar party last week.

A source told the Sunday Mirror: “Victoria is absolutely gutted. Everything in her luggage was soaked - and ruined.”

“But she particularly loved that dress as David had bought it for her to shine at the Oscars. She had such an amazing time - but this has just spoiled it.”

A spokesperson for Victoria added: “It would be inappropriate to comment while the investigation is going on. Needless to say, Victoria is very upset.”

This is not the first time Victoria's luggage has gone missing.

David Beckham Injured In Getafe Match And Now Misses Champions League Match

David Beckham has been ruled out of Real Madrid's UEFA Champions League clash with Bayern Munich on Wednesday.

The former England skipper limped out of Real's 1-1 draw with Getafe on Sunday after colliding with advertising hoardings behind the goal.

Beckham tried to run off the injury but was replaced midway through the second half.

Beckham had just returned to Real's starting line-up after missing last week's derby clash with Atletico Madrid due to suspension.

Real have now confirmed that Beckham will miss the Bayern clash, even though the full extent of the injury will not be known until Monday.

Beckham is also a major doubt for next weekend's Gran Classico with Barcelona.

Victoria Beckham has designs on Denim

Victoria Beckham has joined forces with one of the worlds leading denim manufacturers, Western Glove Works, to develop and distribute her debut denim collection through her own label, 'dVb'.

The collection will be simply named 'dVb denim'.

June 2007 is the when the first few lines hit the store with the main collection arrive from September onwards.

Victoria says: "I've been lucky enough to work closely with some of the true masters of denim to design and develop a collection that is very personal to me. I've loved denim since I can remember and for a long time couldn't find what I consider to be the perfect pair of jeans, so it was important for me to develop a collection that embodied all the qualities I look for in a fantastic pair. I wanted to go back to basics to achieve an elegant and tailored feel ensuring the jeans sit flat, not bag around the knee or cut in around the stomach. I want women to look and feel great when they wear them. We have lots of new styles and washes in the collection including resin, which has a wonderful finish."

Alan Einarson from Western Glove works says:
"Victoria is one of the most prominent fashion enthusiasts of our day. She has an innate sense of style, fit and proportion that transcends all ages

David Beckham - Impossible Is Nothing - Adidas TV Ad

David Beckham's New Adidas TV Ad

Former England captain David Beckham is one of the stars of a major new advertising campaign due to break in the UK over the weekend.

Part of the adidas ‘Impossible is Nothing’ series, the animated ads show how a number of top sports stars overcame great adversity to triumph in their sporting areas and were drawn by the stars themselves.

In his own words, David Beckham tells how he braved death threats from fans after the 1998 FIFA World Cup.

Saying how it was the lowest moment of his career he describes how he turned it all around and went to an all-time high when he scored the goal against Greece that took England to the World Cup finals.

The adidas campaign also features Jonah Lomu, who came back from a kidney transplant to play rugby again and 20-time pole vaulting record breaker Yelena Isinbayeva.

All the behind-the-scenes footage of the stars making the ads will be available to watch from March 6 on interactive TV and www.adidas.com

David Beckham Vows To Fight For England Football Team Recall

David Beckham has insisted he will do everything in his power to reclaim a place in the England team.

The Real Madrid midfielder has not played for England under Steve McClaren after resigning the captaincy at the end of the World Cup.

However, Beckham is desperate to be recalled for England's upcoming Euro 2008 qualifiers against Israel and Andorra.

And he credits Sir Alex Ferguson, who sold him from Manchester United to Real Madrid, for his never-say-die attitude.

"I am like Sir Alex. When people doubt him he always wants to prove them wrong," Beckham told The Sun.

"I was brought up at a club where they don't give in and they always fight back when they are being criticised."

Beckham admits he was hurt badly by McClaren's decision to axe him from the England squad at the end of last summer.

But he believes he can still do a job for England and has set his sights on turning out at the new Wembley stadium.

He said: "That is still in my dreams. In reality we'll have to see. It's not down to me, it's one for the manager. But I'd love to play at Wembley for England.

"When Steve McClaren rang me up and said I wasn't in the squad for his first friendly match against Greece it was a horrible feeling, absolutely gut-wrenching.

"I felt the same when I was walking off the pitch after been sent off against Argentina in the 1998 World Cup and when I heard I would supposedly never play for Real Madrid again.

"There's that helpless feeling because there is nothing you can do, it's out of your hands at that moment.

"But then you either accept it or you fight back. Whether I get the chance to play for England again is not my decision but I'm a fighter and if I get that chance again I'll take it.

"I hear every day that the game's changed and that I couldn't play for England again because I haven't got the pace.

"But my game was never about pace. My game was more than that and that's why I still believe I can perform at a high level and that I've got three or four years left."

Good Luck Becks....I am rooting for you. I hope to see you play for England once again and make your country proud, as you were one of our best players.
