Huge Global Demand For Spice Girls Exceeds Original Expectations

Here is an announcement from the Spice Girls management.

When the Spice Girls reunited for the first time as a 5 piece in 9 years last June announcing The Return Of The Spice Girls tour, no-one was quite sure how the world would respond. Certainly no-one could have predicted just how phenomenal the demand was eventually going to be. Within days over 1 million people in the UK alone had registered for tickets as well as 3 million people in the US. The Spice Girls are in huge global demand and since reforming they have received literally thousands of requests and offers to play in almost every country in the world.

When tickets went on sale for the first UK show at The O2 Arena they sold out in a record breaking 38 seconds. It was clear this was going to be no ordinary tour.

Within days the girls extended their 02 run to an incredible 17 shows. If it hadn’t been for other tour commitments they could have continued to add dates. Spice fever was well and truly back.

The Return Of The Spice Girls tour finally kicked off to global critical acclaim in Vancouver on the 2nd of December 2007 and this stage of the tour will finally come to an end on February 26th in Toronto. Within that time the girls will have performed shows in the US, UK and Europe to well over half a million fans. The icons of girl power are still at the top of their game. The girls have been stunning audiences with their high-energy performances and have brought back some much needed fun, excitement and glamour to the music world.

Sadly the tour needs to come to an end by the end of February due to family and personal commitments for Emma, Geri, Mel B, Melanie C and Victoria. It was announced in June that, as well as the Europe and the US, the girls planned to visit Australia, China, South Africa and Argentina. Due to the phenomenal demand for tickets in the UK and the US along with the touring logistics for such a massive production it was not possible to fit everything in. As the girls return to normal family life and the kids go back to school they are reviewing all the options, who knows what the future might bring!

So those praying that they visit their country, it is just not going to happen which is a huge shame. If this was "for the fans" as they say they would have made it happen.

*cries*

It's not fair for them to build up our expectations just to CRUSH it afterwards.
My only chance to ever see Spice girls.... gone.

FUCK THEM, or better say FUCK Simon Fuller!

This is a disgrace and a shame. I can already see the backlash and they deserve it. They should have toured the places that were originally announced first and then keep adding UK and US dates.
It was known from the very start that the demand would be HUGE, maybe not this huge, but still they should have organised it better.

I was right when i said all those months ago that announcing those dates was just a media playing so people in those areas buy more of their albums.

Announcing dates in Buenos Aires, Cape Town, Sydney and China was out of the question for me from the very start. First, it wouldn't be profitable to do just one gig per continent, they would have to do atleast few gigs in the same arena and do few more cities. One reporter from Australia said that coming for a one-off concert in Sydney is definately out of the question as they would lose money, instead of gaining. He said they would have to tour atleast 4 cities and do atleast 12 gigs to make a minimum profit.

It's very easy to organise a tour in North America and Europe and most artists do that and then they call it a World Tour.

Such a shame, especially for their final goodbye. I'm sure they pissed off more people with this tour, then gained some respect from their fans who have been supporting them for all these years. People in South America, Asia and Australia deserved those gigs more than any others, because they NEVER visited those countries and they toured UK and US more than once.

I will be completaly honest and say that this whole reunion was one big joke that most of us bought, it wasn't for the fans, it was for the money, those who can't see that are just deluded.

Maybe it is a blessing in disguise, because at this point the Spice girls have already got favourable reviews from showbiz critics after they performed at the firt couple of shows. I DIDN'T get value for my money last nite at the Montreal gig, because they were less enthusiastic, and looked tired and bored with the same routines after playing over 40 shows. Even my husband remarked that Victoria Beckham wasn't doing any effort, she was robotic.Posh was just there to enjoy her celebrity status. The show was scheduled at 7.30 p.m, the arena was till closed bcoz the crew was still setting up the stage and doing sound check. The show started 2 hrs later! The 2nd half got better when they performed individually and finished off with the greatest hits. I've seen bigger production than this hype. J.Lo and Britney raised the bar years ago.

I would just like to say that as a huge fan of the Spice Girls I am so dissapoibted in the fact that the tour will be finalised after they finish touring America. It was originally stated that the girls were coming to Australia and had many fans who had never seen the girls perform hugely excited but you have now crushed so many peoples dreams. Why say that there going to perform somewhere just to get peoples hopes up. It would have been better had they not mentioned Australia in the first place then. It was said that this tour was for the fans and for those who missed out the first time, well we have missed out both times now. If this tour was for the fans and fans alone Im sure they could have done something and come to the countries they had promised to visit. They haven't lost a fan in me but I am so so dissapointed and angry.

Sorry to hear that bbperfume. Maybe it is a blessing in disguise like you said, but I do feel for people like Andybuff, who have now missed out twice.

There whole point was to get to fans who did not see them the first time round so maybe they should have started the concert there.

Even though I did go, this is still hugely disappointing and leaves a bitter taste in you mouth.

They keep saying it is not about the money, but it looks like it was, because only the most profitable places were played.

I am from hong kong and just learnt the news on their web. Seriously im soo disappointed, i have been longing for the show and kept registering for their news and competitions. My bf said he would take me to elsewhere in Asia to watch the show in case they are not coming to HK in the end (i hv guessed that already, going to HK is just not as profitable as US/ Europe). but now, they cancelled everything... I have been watching the clips in youtube and enjoyed every bit even thru crappy camera. .. im sad. no joking. totally pissed off. Electra is right, they should keep their promise n do the rest of those pre-engaged cities instead. we helped prove their popularity n success, n they just ditched us.. i still love the fab5 of cox. but i need to blah

I'm in New Jersey and I am lucky enough to get to see them. However, I think it's quite horrible that other countries won't get that experience. If they didnt come to NJ or NYC, I would of been crushed because I never saw them before and they are my idols. I feel horrible for those people. I am disappointed in them because if you arent going to do those dates, THEN DON'T SAY THEM!

and of course it's for the money... anyone who thinks differently is just stupid because ANYONE would do it for the kind of money they're recieving.

I didn't particulaly want to see them but would like to say how sorry I am for those who won't be able to now. Victoria and the girls if you ever read this sites post ,Shame on you! You guys are practically worshipped and your loyal fans deserve better! Re-think this descision and by all means take a break, but finish what you've started later on in the year and complete your promise to say Goodbye properly to the people who made you where you are today! ok who wants my soap box I'm done !
