Here are the Beckhams arriving at the Costume Institute Gala on Monday night in New York.
Now I am going to be honest, as I always am on my site, and tell you guys that I am not crazy about her outfit and here's why.
The dress looks see-through, I feel like I can see her boobs, her face looks too pale and I usually like her hair up but on this occasion, not so much.
Her shoes are fierce though.
Him on the other hand...gorgeous.

Update: Nope, new pictures confirm that I don't like this, especially the make up.

Hi, I really enjoy reading your blog and you should really try reading VB's book. I read her first and it really gave me a good outlook on what she wears and why she wears them. Plus good sarcasm.
ReplyDeleteHer makeup is frightening because the rest of her body is so tan and then it's white up top. The dress isn't too bad but the hair doesn't work because it's too severe in this case. Just my thoughts though...

ReplyDeleteIntersting look for VIc. I think she may be trying to pull the retro-sort of 1980 look. Not her best..but prolly not her worst either. Its different. David..well amazing as usual.

you know i LOVEEEE VB's fashion sense and style but i've notice that most of the time at like special occasions she misses the spot.. like the glamour awards, mtv movie awards ( the zebra print was tacky) but in everyday ocassions and real life shes so chic...

Overall the look is ok, the make-up isn't great but I like that she went with the theme (unlike most of the guests) going for the Cruella look. Like always she'll probably look 10x better on film.

ReplyDeleteSecond, I agree with u about Mrs. Beckham's Outfit. Its doesn't shout, "WOW" but nonetheless, it is still good. Maybe she is trying to pull in another trend? who knows...

ReplyDeleteIs it just me or does anyone keep thinking Cruella Deville? I usually love her outfits but this one was a bit of a miss and I know she doesn't smile in public but I don't know why she looks downright evil in these. Love the shoes though.

Aaaah that make-up!!!!! I think Poshfann is right, VB does look off on most of the special ocassions. Maybe she tries too hard? The dress is fine, not great, but fine. It's the make-up i hate.

The make-up is wrong, I think it's the lipstick that's doing it.

She used this same make up look at a fashion show a while ago can't remember which one (Paris?) didn't like it then either, however loved dress/hair up/very elegant/shoes and of course David suits lovely just prefer him without the beard. ReplyDeleteI agree with whoever said the day to day outfits are much better. There are many appearances when I just don't like the dress.
I've decided I never like red lipstick on her.
I do love her hair up though as I'm bored to tears with the pob. Loving all the leg and those shoes are killer.
yup- i agree- not loving this look too much on vb... personally i don't like the upswept hairdo, much prefer her chic bob...by the way i am an avid fan of this blog- LOVE IT!!!!

ReplyDeletei agree, she looks like she tried too hard, she really needs to consider smiling, red lipstick doesnt suit her, and there were so many other vintage outfits out there that would have been so much more stylish and cool. this is a bit adams family meets cinderella. not cool. but im sure she'll rebound soon!

Who else could wear this outfit and still be Posh rather then VB, after all she is great and i love her sence of fashion.

I'm in the minority here I guess...I absolutely love her dress, hair and shoes. The makeup, I agree, is a little off but she is looking fierce (for lack of a better word.) They look GREAT together!

ReplyDeleteOk, I can say I agree with you. The dress isn't so good, she wears it on a wrong way. Make-up and hair are really bad. I much prefer the look she had with pob. The shoes are beautiful, I want them. But when I look all those things together on her, it kind of classy. Could be just my bad.

ReplyDeleteI don't mind the dress, I think she works it. I'm trying to figure out what it is about the makeup (because I don't think the red lipstick looks that bad), and I think it's her cheekbones. The way the makeup is swept on her cheekbones looks odd. And I agree with everyone else...her body is waaaaay too tan...she needs to lay off the tanning! I LOVE her hair! I love how she's been wearing it swept up lately! And I totally agree that her shoes are major! Overall, I think she rocks it...she is VB afterall! ;) I was cracking up about everyone saying she looks like Cruella Deville, I never would have seen that, but now that you point it out I def. can! Ahahah! I love this blog! You all are too great.
